Myofascial Release Massage

Myofascial release (MFR) is a specialized massage technique that focuses on relieving tension in the fascia, the complex network of connective tissue that surrounds and supports every muscle, organ, and nerve throughout the body.

This treatment involves sustained holds, stretching, and targeted pressure on areas of tightness or adhesions to help alleviate pain and restore range of motion and mobility. Myofascial release is commonly used to treat chronic pain, sports injuries, postural imbalances, and TMJ.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture offers a holistic approach to myofascial pain and dysfunction, addressing both trigger points and the underlying physical and energetic imbalances that contribute to chronic pain and restricted movement. During an acupuncture session, fine needles are placed at specific points on the body to help reduce tension and inflammation, restore mobility, and promote the body’s natural healing processes.

Based on your initial consultation, our Licensed Acupuncturist may also recommend cupping and gua sha to further release fascial adhesions and muscle tension.

Initial Session $240 / Follow Up Sessions $200

Acupressure

Acupressure is rooted in the same principles as acupuncture but involves manual pressure instead of needles. Our practitioner will apply steady, sustained pressure to specific acupoints to restore energy flow and help release and soften the fascia.

The fascial system is one continuous network, so an imbalance in one area can cause referred pain in another, seemingly unrelated spot. Both acupressure and acupuncture can help address myofascial restrictions by providing relief not only where they are applied, but also in connected areas of the body.

Cupping Therapy & Massage Combo

Experience the benefits of two powerful healing modalities in one session. During cupping therapy, cups are applied to the skin using suction and the negative pressure draws the skin and muscle tissue upwards. This technique may help stretch and release tension in the fascia, softening tight muscles and stimulating Qi and blood circulation.

This combined treatment is especially helpful for people with chronic back, neck, or shoulder pain, as well as athletes who want to reduce muscle soreness and improve recovery time.

Understanding Myofascial Release

What is Fascia?

Fascia is a continuous web of connective tissues that extends throughout the body, covering and supporting every structure from head to toe. This intricate network links all muscles, bones, and organs into a seamless, interconnected system.

Healthy fascia is flexible and moves easily with your body. However, it can become tight and restricted due to triggers like trauma, inflammation, poor posture, limited physical activity, or repetitive movements.

When fascia becomes imbalanced, it can pull the musculoskeletal system out of alignment, leading to discomfort, stiffness, and reduced mobility.

What to Expect from Myofascial Release

Myofascial release helps correct imbalances and release restrictions in the fascia, allowing your body to move more freely and function more efficiently. Through a combination of hands-on techniques and therapeutic tools, the fascia is encouraged to soften and return to its natural, elastic state.

A core principle of myofascial release is that the entire fascial network is interconnected. Pain and dysfunction can sometimes appear in areas far from the original site of tension or injury, a phenomenon known as referred pain. Rather than focusing solely on isolated symptoms, our practitioners take a holistic approach, treating the body as an integrated system.

What Conditions Can Myofascial Release Treat?

Myofascial release can be used for a variety of conditions, including:

  • Myofascial pain syndrome (MPS)

  • Chronic back, neck, and shoulder pain

  • Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction

  • Sports injuries

  • Carpal tunnel

  • Fibromyalgia

  • Migraine and tension headaches
