  • For the most part, patients feel calm and sleepy when the needles are in place. Some report feeling either heavier or lighter and many fall asleep during treatment.

  • Wear clothing that is loose and comfortable. If you are coming from work, please feel welcome to bring a change of clothes and you can change clothing prior to your appointment in a private room.

  • Refrain from eating a large meal before or after your visit. Wear clothing that is loose and comfortable. If you are coming from work, please feel welcome to bring a change of clothes and you can change clothing here prior to your visit. Please do not consume alcohol or recreational drugs prior to your visit as they may affect your ability to assess the treatment.

  • Take it easy on yourself for the next few hours after your visit. Do not eat a large meal. Drink lots of water. Do not overexert yourself or consume drugs or alcohol for up to 6 hours. Observe how you feel and take notice of any changes you may feel. Share this information with your acupuncturist at the next visit.

  • You should expect your acupuncture session to be a very relaxing and pain-free experience. Acupuncture needles are in no way similar to needles from a shot or an injection. Most acupuncture needles are up to 100 times smaller than the typical medical syringe and do not feel painful when they are inserted. It is normal to feel a slight pinch as the needles are tapped in. Acupuncture needles are fine and flexible and no thicker than a strand of hair. A slight ache or heaviness near the needle placement is normal and indicative that the body is engaging productively and that energy in your body is being activated. If you experience any prolonged pinching, burning, or sharpness, please let your practitioner know so that the placement of the needle can be adjusted.

  • Government regulations require acupuncturists to follow strict sterilization procedures. Needles are single-use only and never reused, regardless of whether they are for the same patient.

  • For acute conditions, patients may experience results within a few sessions. Chronic health issues may require 12 or more treatments for significant changes to settle in. This question is best addressed during your first session.

  • Because of the insertion of needles, acupuncture has been misunderstood as an adult-only treatment by the mainstream. However, acupuncturists have long treated infants and children alike for conditions ranging from allergies, colds, fevers, coughs, ear infections, migraines, bedwetting, colic, and even hyperactivity. On the other side of the spectrum, seniors can often experience relief from discomforts that are too often dismissed as signs of aging. Practical benefits from regular acupuncture treatments can include more independence, productivity, and improved quality of life.

  • Yes, you can schedule a massage appointment the same day you get acupuncture.

Acupuncture and massage are complementary therapies that address both the physical and energetic aspects of the body. When received in back-to-back sessions, the individual benefits of each therapy can be amplified.

Acupuncture can be done either before or after a massage. Your therapist will assess your condition to determine which order best suits your needs.

Massage

  • Massage therapy has been shown to have a wide range of benefits for both physical and mental well-being. Some of the most common benefits include:

    • Reduced stress and anxiety

    • Improved sleep

    • Reduced pain

    • Improved range of motion

    • Enhanced immune function

    • Increased relaxation

  • Yes, we offer post-surgical lymphatic drainage massages. Lymphatic drainage treatments can help to aid the recovery process and reduce pain, swelling, and inflammation.

If you are considering a post-surgical massage, it is important to talk to your doctor first. They can help you determine when the best time is for you to begin post-op massage treatments.

  • • Stay hydrated. We recommend drinking water before and after your lymphatic drainage massage treatment.

    • Don’t eat a big meal before your appointment. Opt for a light snack instead.

  • Lymphatic drainage stands apart from other massage techniques because it requires very light pressure. The lymphatic system resides just beneath the skin’s surface, and excessive pressure can damage its delicate and intricate network of vessels and nodes. The light pressure, combined with the repetitive, rhythmic nature of the strokes, should create a deeply relaxing and peaceful experience, leaving you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.

  • Lymphatic drainage can help improve the function of the nervous, muscular, lymphatic, and immune systems by promoting circulation and detoxification and reducing inflammation.

Using gentle, rhythmical movements, our lymphatic drainage massages help to enhance fluid flow among the connective tissue while encouraging the lymphatic system to eliminate metabolic waste products, excess fluid, and bacteria.

  • The main difference between a therapeutic and relaxing massage is the goal of the massage. A therapeutic massage is primarily focused on addressing specific issues, such as pain management, range of motion, injury rehabilitation, or relieving muscle tension. This type of massage involves more targeted techniques that focus on specific areas of the body.

Relaxing massages are designed to help you unwind and improve your overall sense of well-being. They typically involve gentle, flowing strokes and rhythmic movements to ease muscle tension and promote total relaxation. Unlike therapeutic massages, these massages are more general in nature and do not focus on treating specific conditions or injuries.

Tea

  • Dried tea leaves and botanicals will not expire, but they do lose freshness and vitality over time.

The shelf life of each category of tea varies due to their differences in processing and oxidation. It is a little shorter for fresh green teas and light oolongs, and longer for more oxidized teas like black tea.

The shelf life is also largely dependent on how the tea is stored. Keeping your teas away from light, heat, and moisture will ensure the highest quality and longest shelf stability. Green teas, for example, can be vacuum sealed and stored in the freezer to extend their life.

Pu’er doesn’t follow the same rules as other tea types. If it is properly stored and a good pu’er to begin with, the longer you keep it, the better it becomes. Find more information on our blog: How to Store Tea

  • To maintain quality and freshness, we recommend storing your tea in a resealable container away from direct sunlight, heat, moisture, and strong smells. Tea will absorb the flavors around it, especially if kept in a porous container. It is best to keep your teas away from spices, coffee, and other strong-smelling items. If you keep your tea in the Arogya bag, press the air out and seal the bag after each use.

Pu’er teas are in an active state of fermentation and need to be stored properly to facilitate the aging process. Unlike most teas, they need some air circulation and thrive in a slightly humid environment. Find more information on our blog: How to Store Tea
